Customer Colour Canvas
See your customers through fresh eyes, in colour.

About
In Customer Colour Canvas, each team is given a 3D object to use as its canvas, along with black, white and primary coloured paints.
Teams explore the basics of contrast, artistic style and colour theory, and learn about the relationship between colour and our emotions and feelings.
Next, teams decide on a customer profile and work out how to represent it in colour. They choose a suitable artistic style, draw a sketch plan and then paint their artwork. The customer profile gives every artistic choice a clear purpose.
Once the artworks are complete, participants walk around the room, viewing each piece and discussing the characteristics of the customer it represents. It is a relaxed, creative way to see your customers through fresh eyes, and it works particularly well for marketing, sales and customer service teams.
Learning outcomes
Customer Colour Canvas combines creativity with customer insight in a way few activities can.
Choosing and representing a customer profile encourages teams to think deeply about who their customers are, what they value and how they feel.
Learning about colour and emotion gives teams a new language for discussing brand, communication and customer experience.
Working together on one artwork requires shared decisions and respectful debate, building trust and collaboration.
The gallery walk sparks rich conversations about different customer groups and how the organisation serves them. Participants leave with fresh perspectives and practical ideas they can bring back to their work.
Facilitators guide each discussion so that the insights are captured, and many teams take a photograph of their artwork back to the office as a reminder of their customer focus and a useful starting point for future planning sessions.
