Rainbow Tube Orchestra
Colourful tubes, one big screen and a room full of music in minutes.

About
Rainbow Tube Orchestra is a unique conference energiser that brings people together through uplifting group music. Within minutes, any meeting room becomes a vibrant orchestra, full of fast rhythms, cheering and fresh energy.
Everyone receives a set of tuned percussion tubes: lightweight, hollow plastic tubes in bright colours, each tuned to a different note by its length.
Following a high-tech visual interface on a big screen, participants work together to play a lively piece of music. Colour-coded blocks move across the screen, and players time their hits so that each note sounds as its block reaches the line.
As the session continues, the tempo and complexity increase. The blocks move faster, and teams must react more quickly to keep the rhythm building to a big finish. It is a cost-effective way to lift the mood and refocus a room before the next session of a conference or annual meeting.
Learning outcomes
Rainbow Tube Orchestra is short, simple and remarkably effective. In half an hour it lifts the energy of a tired audience and gets everyone smiling.
Playing in time requires focus and attention to the people nearby. Participants quickly realise that the music only works when they listen and react together.
Because nobody needs musical experience and the cues are visual, the activity is inclusive for multilingual audiences and for people of every age and background.
The rising tempo adds a playful challenge that mirrors how teams adapt as pace increases at work. The group finishes with a shared success, ready to engage fully with whatever comes next on the agenda. Many organisers use it right after lunch, when energy tends to dip.
